Tablescape Food Project

I ate this meal almost every day for three months while I worked at Slim Chickens in Searcy, in early 2021. Every day I would get this exact meal, a Cayenne Ranch Chicken Sandwich with unsweetened tea, and go sit in my car and eat it. It wasn’t that I didn't like the other food there, it was just that I liked this meal the most. That’s still my order when I go to eat there, which seems strange because I should be sick of it by now. I guess that speaks on how good the sandwich is. I don't know how good the Conway Slim’s Chicken is, so if you try it here and it's bad, do not blame me. Because It’s really good in Searcy. An important part of this specific meal is that I was eating it in my car. I love(d) my then car very much, and up until recently I still had it. It was a 2005 red corvette, my dream car. That’s where I got the emblem for this project. My parents completely totaled it two weeks ago. They’re totally unharmed, don't worry, but the car isn't, so I'll never be able to have this meal the exact same way again. I'll always keep the emblem you see now as a memento though.
The emphasis of this piece is the sandwich, with the box cradling it and the wheel framing it, and the french fries and money surrounding it all. I like how it turned out, I especially am proud of the sandwich, but I wish I hadn't included the logo painted on the wheel because I have the actual emblem above it. I need to manage my time better so I don't have issues with getting it finished in time next time I have a project.
The project is unified by the theme well, and the colors compliment each other in a way that supports the theme, fast food. I need to manage my time better in order to properly finish my work in time. If I had done that, I would have changed the color inside the box to lighter brown to look more like cardboard.

Final Course Reflection
Think back to the first day of class and consider the description of this class that was discussed. Has the course met your expectations? Why or why not? If you can’t remember the description, go back and look over your syllabus before you respond.
Yes, this course met my expectations and went above and beyond in the uniqueness and variations of the projects we did.
How has this course challenged you this semester? Said another way, how has this course helped you to grow and learn? Please be specific. Are there materials or techniques that have been a challenge? Why? Have you been challenged to think in different ways than you have before? Did you find any projects to assignments not challenging enough? If so, please describe that experience.
Using new materials and having limitations for what I could do in certain projects forced me to strain and come up with new ideas I hadn't had before. Making clay was very difficult and the clay did not tun out how I wanted it to, but I know how to improve in the future. No projects were too easy because everything was very new to me, so I struggled with making everything look good in the first place. It was my inexperience with the materials rather than the assignments themself.
Make a list of all of the new technical skills you have learned or refined up to this point.
- shaping clay
- painting
- making paper mache cups from real cups
- soldering wire
Were the course materials (syllabus, lectures, notes, assignments, rubrics) clear and easy to access? If not, what changes would help improve your experience?
- Yes, everything was accessible and easy to understand.
How would you rate/describe your participation and engagement in this course throughout the semester? What did you do well? What could you do better/differently as we head into the spring semester?
- I feel like I tried very hard to complete the projects to the best of my ability. I could definitely improve in making and shaping clay, but I did well in painting the clay and other assignments.
